Example projects
Examples of some of the projects I have been asked to complete for customers.
These recent projects demonstrate the diversity of work that I am happy to pick up. There are some major projects as well as smaller. I am more than happy to put up pictures, install CCTV systems or assemble furniture. My Services page has more help with the type of work I can do for you…
No job is too small, contact me for a free quote (perhaps send over a few pictures I can use to better understand your requirements)
A regular client asked me to build a new garden feature based on his design. The garden deck was to use a corner of the garden which catches the last rays of sun. I often use a 3D modelling software product (SketchUp) to realise the design into a scaled image that allows both my client and myself to get a feel of how the design will work when completed. See below, the original design and the completed project. (You will see how when we reviewed the SketchUp design, we decided to add another layer of sleepers to the back and sides)
A new garden gate for wheelchair access
A client wanted a bespoke gate making to allow wheelchair access, the job involved moving the gate posts and then fitting the new gate.
A very satisfying job and one very pleased client.
Garden Shed repair
A client recently asked me to take a look at his garden shed, as he was out of the country, he couldn’t sort it out for himself.
It soon became apparent that the entire roof consisting of particle board and felt needed taking off and replacing.
A trip to the builders merchant and an hour or so work, resulted in a nice new felt roof, good for another 10 years. (and the rain held off – just!)
Oak Threshold
A client came to me asking if I could remove the old broken threshold and floor covering and replace with new but keeping in style and look of the remaining floor. The end result was very pleasing, not a bad job if I say so myself..
Recent wardrobe project
One of my regular clients recently asked if I could do something about a funny little alcove which wasn’t really being used. I suggested a bespoke built in wardrobe might work well. With this type of build, you can more or less have any layout you want.
As it was for a young lad, a short hanging space was needed, but plenty of space for football kit and such.
After a few backs of envelopes, I produced this 3D image of the proposed item. Using this sort of CAD software, it is possible to get a real-life view of how the finished project will look. Below are a few pictures of progress…
A new garden gate
A recent straightforward job this one. The dog had managed to eat most of the bottom corner, so rather than bodge a few pieces of timber into the gap, we agreed to simply replace the whole gate.
I took the old gate off the hinges and re-aligned the fixings (to compensate for the difference in size). After re-fitting the locks, job done.
Repair to a water damaged ceiling and wall
A client recently asked me to take a look at her ceiling and wall which had become damaged following a leak from the bathroom above.
After I had pulled off the old artex material, I replaced it with new coat of covering. My client was particularly pleased that I had managed to replicate the existing swirl pattern….
A recent little tidy up…
A client has some areas of the property which has starting to look a little tired. Some of the corners of the wallpaper has started to pull away and the overall look needs some attention.
A little time spent cleaning down the old surface and then a nice new border applied. What a difference, needless to say, the client is very happy and asked if could I do the same to some other areas…..
A New Kitchen..
A client was looking for a new kitchen, the builders left an empty room, at which point, I took over…
This project needed some specialist tools and build techniques to fit the solid walnut worktops. After some planning, the fit went ahead. An interesting feature of this project was the storage and worktop projection into the room, this demanded some tricky jointing to achieve the ‘wrap around’ feel to the working space.
My customer was delighted with the outcome and apparently held a number of tours for the neighbours!
